If you’re tired of "religion" and hungry for a genuine encounter with Jesus, you aren’t alone. This year, Still Waters is leaning into a 40-day journey of prayer, simplicity, and spiritual renewal.
What is Lent? (And why are we doing this?)
For those who didn't grow up with it, Lent is simply the 40-day season leading up to Easter. Think of it as a "spiritual spring cleaning." Just as Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness to prepare for His ministry, we take these weeks to pull back from the noise, declutter our hearts, and prepare for the celebration of the Resurrection. It’s not about trying to be on your best behaviour—it’s about making space for God to speak.
Our Guides: The Desert Fathers and Mothers
To help us navigate this season, we are looking to the Desert Fathers and Mothers. These were early Christian pioneers who left the distractions of the city for the silence of the Egyptian wilderness. They traded comfort for holiness and "performance" for presence.
Partnering with Lectio 365, we will use the wisdom of these ancient pioneers to help us find modern peace.
How to get involved
The Mid-Week | Wednesdays Online Starting Feb 18th, we gather on Google Meet to process what God is doing. No fluff—just real talk about passion, silence, and humility.

We’re David and Christine DeGarmo. For over 30 years, we served in fast-paced ministry, pouring ourselves out for the work of God. But in 2021, we hit a wall of burnout that left us exhausted and empty.
In that season of brokenness and surrender, God met us in a profound way. He radically changed our lives by teaching us how to live slower, deeper, and closer to His heart. We came alive again with a new vision—to help people discover the kind of life we found in Him. Out of that journey, Still Waters was born.
Today, Still Waters is our ministry home where we gather for home church, host personal retreats, and offer experiences in nature and with our horses (Equine Assisted Learning) that help people encounter God’s presence.
Our passion is to help people discover and know God as Father and to live as beloved sons and daughters in the fullness of who He created them to be.
